Default Soon-to-be-Army noob.

Have to retake my ASVAB Wednesday (last one was 3 years ago :V scored over 80... hope to do good this time too!), then MEP's the very next morning. Signing Infantry 11x with an Option 4 contract.
I'm pretty excited, and can't wait for the Hell awaiting me at OSUT, then beyond! Wishing myself the best of luck :3 Hopefully I'll be amongst decent people like yourselves after OSUT. From what I've heard, theres a bit of ******** in the Army, and I dont just mean the commanding officers.

I'm signing as 11x, so I can only guess I'll be headed to Fort Benning, Georgia. [Which isnt too bad... only 3 hours from where I live right now.]

Guess I'll know for sure once my pen hits that contract.

Ft. Benning it is. Are you going to try for an Option 4 (Airborne after OSUT) contract? I advise it. It's a logical progression for Infantry. That & RIP (Ranger) but that I wouldn't advise unless you're in really, really good shape. Option 40 RIP contracts are pretty hard to come by & many wash out of RIP the first few days.

Good luck. Don't let them talk you into anything you don't want. If Infantry School slots aren't available wait unti they are! Traditionally MEPS Counselors will try to talk you into 19D, Cavalry Scout contracts saying "it's just like Infantry". It's not.

I was suppose to ship March 17th for 11x airborne to Benning but apparently I am color blind and can no longer do infantry. So I am now doing Combat Medic. Not shipping til July/August though apparently. Will swear in tuesday and find out more.

Reb,

Are you still going for the 68W Option 4?

I can't do airborne now because I am color blind. I am actually kinda upset about not being able to do Airborne Infantry now. I do understand that a Combat Medic is assigned to an Infantry unit. So in a round about way I am still Infantry just not on paper LOL. I will see Tuesday when I swear in.
