THe claim culture is like a cancer, its ruining everything that was setup to serve people fairly.

Socialism in action! We're being governed by Interlectual incompetants. Now we're getting the bill for their bleeding hearts....
Just received a voting card for this congestion charge around Manchester, get this they still want to go ahead and spend 2.7 billion pounds, 1.5 billion of which will come from the government. Like why don't they take a reality check! UK PLC is massively in debt and they think they can spend their way out of recession. Most private business's are in the process of rationalising and slimming down their stock and their workforce. But the government no they know better, they're going to borrow over a 100 billion to gaurantee schemes such as this congestion charge, Now thats INSANE!!

Have to agree with that, its pritty poor policy making, it might keep the social welfare receipients happy, but it leads to further overspending and increases the effect of recesssion.. Goverments, like businesses need to stay cash rich through recession or they will be owned by the banks in debt service for decades to come.... Best change policy in an intelligent way and take the pain now, cos it will only get worse in times to come....

Spike I agree its Socialism by definition...I dont like it one bit mate..and the latest effort by the goverment is a huge risk if it dosnt work there is a big possibility this country could be bankrupted by it....I dont like the gamble....well not a short term one that doesnt look at further down the road

I agree with Exo we should take the hit now instead of putting everything on predictions...we are pouring more and more money in.....in hope...they are playing a risky game this goverment....sometimes you cant just throw money at a problem

And like it or not a lot depends on what goes on over the pond

I'd prefer to take the hit than dig a bigger hole but the people who created this problem, the banks etc seem to be immune, it stinks!

I think women SHOULD be allowed in the military, I also think they should be allowed to do any job they want.

It was said WAY BACK in this thread that male/female, doesn't really matter, it's the ability of the individual.

I'd have to agree with that one, I've seen plenty of male soldiers that I would not want anywhere near me in a contact. I trade them for a skilled female soldier anyday.

Thanks for reviving an old thread & an old "argument".

For one thing, it's not up to the individual services to decide which jobs a female can or cannot have. Federal law bars women from the Combat Arms. Plain & simple. End of discussion. Very few Congressmen & Senators would vote to have that changed. You & I can argue this point forever & nothing will ever come of it. The subject is moot - like asking which is better - blue oranges or purple oranges.

Personally I WOULD NOT want my two daughters in Combat Arms, as strong, smart & athletic that they are. Fortunately when they were looking at military service they never even considered it even when they weren't aware that they couldn't even if they wanted to.

My criteria that I've always held to was can a soldier carry me wounded & unconscious 100 meters to safety? If so then welcome aboard!

The same holds true for Police Officers & Firefighters.

I never worked with Female soldiers but they were coming into my unit when I was leaving it.. Reports are mixed, but in most things I agree, they should be there doing the same job, but not all jobs... combat arms is the exception. Reason being that the military cant deal with women in combat arms.. does that mean they cant do it, absolutely not, its just that there are fewer suitable woment for combat arms who have to step further outside of societal norms then their male counterparts, and for those who can, then I think they should be supported... Worked for Buddicca....
