Default That Horrible Drill Sgt!!!!!

Just wanted to post this for those like me who thought the DS's were terrible during BCT . . .

On Graduation Day, during our time together, my son and I had several discussions about BCT and things that went on there during his training. When I made a, probably nasty lol, comment about his particular DS this was his response . . .

Mom, I understand how you can think this guy is crazy and terrible and I was not crazy about him either but . . . look at it from his point of view . . . his job is to train us so that if and when we are deployed we can not only look out for ourselves but for our team as well and do our jobs to the best of our abilities. The DS's words to the guys were: "If I wouldn't trust you to watch my back in the field then I wouldn't want to pass you here in basic. I want to know 100% that when you leave here you can take care of yourself and your buddies in any situation". So now that this is all behind me, I can understand why he did the things he did and why he trained us as he did. And now, with hindsight, I respect him for it.

Deff made me stop and think about everything in a different light.

Just food for thought . . .

His new Sergeant hopes the DS did his job well. So many times we received new graduates from BCT that were lazy, disrespectful and couldnt PT. We smoked them more and made them understood why they were serving their nation. I hope the new troop will make his former DS proud.
