hm. its interesting reading.

how ever. thease things do not apply in my country.
the culture is that much different. and there are far less people.
the crimes are mostly conducted without a fire arm and
as the population is in controllable numbers, our police can handle
the bad stuff. i remember this incedent where somebody alledgely
had a handgranade in a bar. the police were there few minutes
in full assault gear.. (mp5s + fullbody armor)

granted, its often too late after few minutes but frankly, the
system works here quite good. its near 3am here now.. i can go
and take a stroll around the neighborhood without any fear at all.

well in the central you might get stabbed but usually only if you pick a fight.
thats really the bright side of this northern dark land.
last time i saw americans here they were more concerned about getting a burger after
midnight than lacking their piece.

The website is most definately biased, but the FBI PDF is down until the updated one comes out in a month of so. I pointed him to the sources at the bottom. Those are unbiased. But the fact remains that 2.5 million lives are saved each year.

The US has a problem with guns. The fact that so many claim to need them is an appalling indictment on US culture. The strange thing is the average American doesn't see the absurdity/hypocracy of his pro gun stance and continues to ramble on about needing a gun to defend his homestead. School massacres, slayings............Drive by shootings! where else but happy /secure America......Get yourself a gun son!

My husband starting yelling so I shot him, yeh well he must have had it comin huh!! Don't worry the crime report will show it was self defence mam....

Fair point Spike, but sounding reasonable from a seat in the UK, not the US. Gun Culture is engrained deeply in the US pshcye, and withdrawal of it would cause more problems then it would cure... I say control em, make it very regulated, and everytime the rednecks try to get the regulation lifted, just waive a gun ban enfront of them, and natural order will be restored... No, in the US context, guns are unfortunately neccessary...

I've had a few pointed at me in the US............because unfortunately I air my views very vocally.....So yeh I'm talking first hand and the ease at which a gun can materialise when all that was required was somebody to yell/communicate back at me ..I find the mouth is the tool to use most of the time not a Glock! silly me what was I thinking
