Default mental condition

I have a friend who is trying to enlist in the army. He has been diagnosed with bipolar, manic-depressive disorder but stopped taking his meds several months ago. Will he be allowed into the army or will they reject him because of his condition? Do they even check medical records? And if he does manage to slip past, will they kick him out if they find out? I really don't think he should be there given his history.

Thanks,
-R

It would be in his best interest to disclose his medical conditions. The rule is to be off of medications for a year but honestly he won't do anyone any good if he can't keep control of himself. That's not for us to say but I've seen many who have lied about it and now they are a detriment to their unit and the other Soldiers.

If he lies and does enlist and something happens, he could be charged with fraudulent enlistment.

What Armygirl said X2.

That sort of person could be a danger to himself & his fellow soldiers.
