Default Does BAH start during or after OSUT?

Hi there, I am going to be joining as a 31B soon, and am going to get married before I do join(am currently engaged, obviously). I know you start getting paid your base pay effective first day of OSUT, but how about BAH? Do they provide your BAH while you are in OSUT? Or no?

I had a buddy in the coast guard who said that BAH is only given to you after basic, but that is the coast guard. Also, BAH is only given if they don't provide housing for you, correct? What is the percentage of army bases that don't provide housing for service members? I know in the Coast Guard most bases/stations require you to live on the economy and they provide BAH instead of housing, but how about for the army?

Thanks
Jeremy

BAH starts the day you ship to BCT/OSUT.

BAH is provided to you when you don't live in government housing. Every Army installation has government housing but you can imagine that some of the larger posts can't accomodate everyone. There is always a waiting list you can put yourself on until a spot opens up.
