Default Joining the army

I am thinking of joining the army. My husband is in the army. I have already gone to meps and considered joining the national guard but changed my mind. I want to go active army. I have spoke with a recruiter but havent gotten many answers. I have a ged but I also have 15 college credits. Would I go in as a PFC or PVT? I need some answers.

You'd go in as a PV1, Laura. However if you sign up & have some time before you leave for BCT you can get in the Future Soldier Program, the new name for the Delayed Entry Program. While there you can take classes & a PT test & then you'll go in as a PV2.

A GED with 15 college credits gives you a H.S equivalency.

ok Thanks.. What is the diffence between ged and high school equivalent? What do I have to score on the ASVAB? Where would I take the classes and PT test? I know I can pass it because I went to drill with my husband before he left for BCT. I have been doing the PT's at home. Thank you so much for all the information.

I should have said that it gives you a H.S. equivalency in the Army's way of thinking. I believe if you were to get a bonus with H.S. but not one for GED you'd get one with a GED plus 15 college credits.
