It put s him at a lower platform from the others. Presidents have kissed hugged and shaken hands as a sign of respect. But you never do anything that would put you at a disadvantage.

I see where you guys are coming from. The President of the US should never show weakness. But I think in the case of Obama, he is trying to show respect to heads of other nations. Its obviously a ripe topic of debate, but we weren't in the room with them, we don't know the exact context of his actions. I personally am indifferent of the bow...lets see how the future plays out.

It's important to understand Arabic culture when observing Obama's actions.

Kissing is a sign of mutual respect. A bow is a sign of submission in the Arabic culture.
