Just so long as eyesight in one eye is correctable to 20/20 and the other 20/100, you're fine.

Shorty, Most cash enlistment incentives may also be combined with either the Army’s Loan Repayment Program or the Army College Fund, but not both.

The Army’s cash bonuses include bonuses for choosing a high demand military occupational specialty (MOS), for selecting a specific date to begin basic training, for being willing to leave for boot camp as soon as possible, for advanced civilian skills, and more. The bonus chart changes all the time depending on the needs of the Army....The Army’s cash bonuses include bonuses for choosing a high demand military occupational specialty (MOS), for selecting a specific date to begin basic training, for being willing to leave for boot camp as soon as possible, for advanced civilian skills, and more.

Better quit right away, Shorty. You won't be allowed to use them in BCT & you sure don't want to go through nicotine withdrawal while there. You'll have enough to worry about without craving a smoke every hour of the day. I've seen recruits who had their last smoke while waiting for their transportation to BCT. Most are nervous wrecks when they get to Reception, more so than those who don't smoke. Not taking into account that it's a detriment to any PT you do in preparing yourself. Just think of how much better you'll do without the smoker's lungs. I have an occassional cigarette or cigar & I can tell it's making me huff & puff more when I do PT & I'm talking maybe a pack in 2 or 3 weeks with a cigar or 2 thrown in. I can go a full week without craving a smoke but for some obscure reason I still do it.

Forgive my ignorance, but what on earth would a Navy Officer be doin "qualifying" on an M16 or is an M4 with an Airborne Division?....

Good question EXO. When I was in the Navy back in the day as an enlisted person we had to qualify on any weapon that we would have a possibility to use. I had to qualify on the 1911 .45 pistol, M1 carbine, BAR (we still had them then) & the Thompson submachine gun (had them too)., all weapons that we used in port for the topside watch in the Submarine Service.

As far as qualifying with an Airborne unit is anybody's guess. Maybe they were getting some joint services training.
