Women are deployed. There are certain jobs that are closed to women (all combat MOS') but female Soldiers serve in Combat Service Support and Combat Support and do deploy to combat zones.

Many women see combat. In this war on terrorism it can come from any direction, any place, any timeT. he closest thing a woman soldier can do to get close to combat on a regular basis is to become an MP otherwise all Combat Arms are closed to women by law.

if you can find the documentary lioness it talks about a group of women soldiers that actually were deployed and saw direct combat i watched in a women's study class. with the war in iraq many of the raids involve places where women and children are with the people us soldiers are looking for and often they trust women soldiers more than men. also, with the addition of female suicide bombers men are not allowed to search women in custody. women are actually becoming more useful on the battlefield and their presence is actually being sought in some cases. i would expect to see combat laws regarding women loosen up a bit in coming years. (granted, there are a lot of taboos and long held beliefs about women in combat that will be hard to change) i think there is a place for women in combat, but it is not quite the same as a man's because of differences and abilities that will always be there.

here is the site for lioness: http://www.lionessthefilm.com/

Women are deployed and nowhere is free from danger when in a combat zone....We had a lady KIA not too long back after an IED explosion...Dosnt matter where you are or what you are doing in theatre....you always have to stay sharp.

lilyOhio makes some great points....theyre always something to remember.

When I was in Iraq and we were doing house calls...we could not enter the property unless the man of the house was present(orders from command)

The searching of females by a male British soldier was a definite no go(and rightfully so for both parties)

The problem was we were trying to win hearts and minds with one hand....and win a war with the other
