The goalkeeper replaced the phalanx because of some flaws in the design......in 91 uss jarrett was equpt with them... after an iraqi slikworm was fired at uss missouri or Hms gloucester witch was near by the missouri fired chaff and the jarretts phalanx using its automatic targeting opened up on the missouri not destroying the missile,Hms gloucester had to take out the missile with its sea darts

well thats not true really..... the british rapier SAM system tracked a B-2 flying over norfolk in 96 a new radar system had just been installed so it could track that sort of aircraft...the americans hit the roof and the piolt had never had to say "Im being tracked here"
so guess what? wrong again

As it is specifically designed for ground attack ,it would have to be the A10 .

For sure...... It can be spotted for miles and everybody now, friend and foe keeps their heads down.... in 1991, the Irish were looking for any off course Hogs during the gulf war.... FROM LEBANNON.... Didnt want to become blue chowder all over the Leb landscape.... pilot would be lost for sure if he went into Leb Airspace, but better safe then sorry, feckin weaponry is still the deadliest.....
