Basic training will not get you into shape .. neither will airborne school, in fact, you will have to work extra hard on your downtime to maintain your fitness.

I trained for a year before putting in my packet .. and I was already in great shape when I started.

I suggest you start looking at sometime next year for an enlistment date. Nothing will taste worse to you than to have the opportunity only to end up failing. Getting injured is still failing. The odds are against you, so I suggest you get as much on your side while you can. Waiting longer won't matter when you're graduating the Q course, you won't care that you pushed your enlistment back.

Too many go in and don't make it, don't be one of them.
I understand. I appreciate your advice as always Tacky. Changes will be made.

Ok, now I am really pissed.

They got my paperwork from when I was in the MN National Guard like 11 years ago. Heres the story.....

Back then, after I enlisted I waited to finish my baseball season to ship to basic. I was going to drill every other weekend and so forth, waiting to ship. That summer I had some opportunities to enable me to pursue baseball. I talked to my recruiter and he said not a problem. I can get a trainee discharge, no ill effect except I just have to wait 3 years to enlist again. I said great because the Army will be there after baseball.

Paperwork came back and it says NOTHING about a trainee discharge. I actually says discharged due to medical reasons.......WTF!!!! So my recruiter f**ks me for not going? I have NO medical problems. On top of me screwing myself on the hearing test, NOW THIS!!!??? Being 18 I trusted him and did not look over the discharge papers at all, or kept anything in my possession as far as copies. It is sad that if my recruiter did this to deliverately try and screw me, that there are that kind of people in the US Forces.

My recuiter is working on it. Enough venting.

Man. I'd call that a major setback! Hopefully everything will get straightened out soon. Maybe this will give you more time to get in shape.

Yeah, no kidding!!! The code was RE3. My recruiter said basically it was saying like I broke a leg before basic and was unable to ship. But then under the same line, it said "refused to ship"--which I didnt! So the papers completely contradict themselves and that is what they are trying to figure out because they don't make any sense.

I was DIRECT with my old recruiter saying if it caused problems I would ship...so I did not REFUSE TOO (and I was direct), but if there was a way for me not too, then I would chose not too. But I did NOT want to leave on bad terms with the Army, I'm not like that. He assured me that there is a "trainee discharge" because the Army doesn't want individuals to be there if they don't want to be and it has no ill-effect. So when I heard about the medical issue, I bout took off my recruiters head! But he understood. It will get worked out. They can poke and prod all they want, they won't find a thing.

ARMY, RE-3 Individuals who are not qualified for continued Army service, but the disqualification is waiverable. Ineligible for enlistment unless a waiver is granted.

This is so jacked up. This is completely different then the BS my recruiter told me. It isn't even close. He told me nothing about this.

I didn't "refuse" to ship. I said I would go unless there was a way for me to get out to pursue baseball without any negative rammifications. He said I would be in good standing, the only thing is that I couldn't enlist for 3 years.

Yeah, this hit my like a ton of bricks. It's BS.

You want to be SF right? Then adjust the attitude and don't be so quick to get upset over small things. You won't survive if you let **** bother you. Just do what needs to be done.

So you hit a little bump in the road, big deal. Write up a short statement of the events, put in for a waiver.

I would suggest you call an SF recruiter and talk to him at this point.

Just an update. Waivor request is sent to the waivor authority with a statment from the MN National Guard saying it was a mistake and a letter from me stating what happened. Hopefully that will appease the powers to be. *fingers crossed*
