Default Pakistan blocks YouTube website

Turkey and Thailand have in the past also banned access to the site
Pakistan has blocked access to the popular YouTube website because of content deemed offensive to Islam.
Its telecommunications authority ordered internet service providers to block the site until further notice.
Reports said the content included Danish cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad that have outraged many.
But one report said a trailer for a forthcoming film by Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders, which portrays Islam in a negative light, was behind the ban.
"They asked us to ban it immediately... and the order says the ban will continue until further notice," said Wahaj-us-Siraj, convener of the Association of Pakistan Internet Service Providers.
"Users are quite upset. They're screaming at ISPs which can't do anything.
"The government has valid reason for that, but they have to find a better way of doing it. If we continue blocking popular websites, people will stop using the internet."
Other countries that have temporarily blocked access to YouTube include Turkey and Thailand.

I can see the reasons why the would in Pakistan, as they have a radical fundamentalist element that would go on a bloody chaos and mayhem rampage over cartoons... its a sad and pathetic testament to Fundamentalist Islam!!...

Wonder if the Cartoons in the Middle East rediculing "Infadels" if shown in Europe would provoke a bloody and deadly response to Muslims in our midst??.... I dont think so!!.. I could be nieve, and say that the Islamic Fundamentialists should consider the wider picture and ramifications of their actions.... but its really down to Freedom of Expression... some have it, some dont!!.. and thats the state of play in the world of today...

Shouldn't mosques a cars be set afire? Shouldn't there be widespread looting & rioting? Maybe death threats to Imams who have ever said anything negative abour Christianity? Isn't that the way things are done?

Yup... its amazing how ludicrus its sounds when you reverse the religions in the scenario... but whats important is the message when the dellusional fundamentalist crap is stripped away... its wrong wrong wrong... hopefully if more of those guys saw it, some might consider a more peaceful way at showing offence....

Yup,yup. If we even mildly criticize their beliefs we're considered intolerant to "the religion of peace".

A former member of our Judo club is a Milwaukee firefighter & a devout Muslim. He's all for kicking fundamentalist a$$ & supports our war against terrorism in Iraq & Afghanistan. His claim is that any terrorist of any religion has no right to breathe the same air we do, that the taking of any life for religious purposes goes against evey holy book, Koran in particular.

hmh.. the Internet censorship is not that new phenomenom..
it has happened many times in many countries..

My country has just Implemented a DNS filtering against the
child porn. As the cause is certainly right, the ones implementing it are
total morons who don't seem to understand **** about how
modern media works...

well.. we elected them. its our stew to swallow.

Nice point!..."How about that"...My religion is knowing the difference between Right and wrong and as simple as Good vs evil..There we're times where I might have been bad but never evil....It's good thing...You Tube is back..They can still get to see "Vida Guerra" A New York chic who's crazy hot...ha ha Check her *** out..She's awesome and it's still allowed.Lol..

Exo,...You make a valid point...But still reguardless of any religion or any kind of fundamental reason..It will always come down to choice....The fact that their's ppl out there who perfer to have others choose their fate for them says everything...especially when no good could come from it...It's about the freedom of choice.....
