Sniper school and a bit more.
I was wondering what the basic steps were to being able to apply for being a sniper. I know this question might be asked alot, but i feel it is never answered fully.
My second question doesnt need to be answered but i would really appreciate if it could be answered.
If i would be applying to be a sniper, what kinda of grades would i need to get in school to be good enough, or just to have a chance at being accepted. I know im very responsible, but my grades are only now pulling up to mostly b's and a few c's, from d's and c's in my freshman year. Will this greatly affect my chances of applying?
Thanks for the help, Jeremiah.

It's not about H.S.grades as much as what you score on the ASVAB - the GT portion to be more specific.
Sniper is not an entry level job. There is no enlistment contract for it. You have to be MOS 11B, Infantry, 18 series, Special Forces & I think it's possible that 19D Cavalry Scouts are being accepted now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SNIPER COURSE PREREQUISITES
1. Must be a VOLUNTEER and have the commanders recommendation.
2. Must be in the grade of E3 thru E7. (WAIVERABLE)
3. Must score 70% in each event of the standard APFT for the appropriate age group. Soldiers over 40 must have physical clearence.)
4. Students must be CMF 11B, 11M or in the CMF 18 series. (NON-WAIVERABLE)
5. Students must have a GT SCORE of 110 or higher. (NON-WAIVERABLE)
6. Students must have 20/20 vision or correctable to 20/20 and have normal color vision. (NON-WAIVERABLE)
7. Must show documentation that the last two (2) weapons qualification (with in 12 months) with the M-16A1/M16A2 were at the EXPERT level.
8. Must have a MINIMUM of 0ne (1) year retainability. (NON-WAIVERABLE)
9. Must have no adverse Disciplinary history of any kind. (NON-WAIVERABLE)
10. Must be dependable and capable of working alone under adverse conditions for extended periods of time.
11. Must show documentation of a Psychological Evaluation.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The above should be self-explanatory.
