Even if he removed the detonator, I agree, he should be dead... as in the small brain to begin with has being blown away... if the grenade was complete in his mouth when it went off, well, no need for explanation there.....

Once the grenade is primed it must be thrown immediately. Failure to complete this simple action will result in death.

Incorrect, a primed grenade has a safety pin in the fly off lever, removal of the pin will start the process of delayed detonation..... once you remove the safety pin, you must throw or else you will be in little pieces after 4 to 5 seconds or so....

Unless they redesigned hangernades, nothing happens til you let go the lever and the striker hits the primer which starts the fuse.
I have replaced pins and lived through it.

We sometimes gave guys grenades with pins removed to hold while on guard.
It is a good inducer to stay awake.

I know of an incident involving this method, a recon team, and a WP grenade.
A disaster ensued.

little saying they tough us in ROTC

Pop the clip, Pull the pin, Let it rip.

Also remember Murphy's law: treat every 5 second fuse as if it only last 3 seconds (went something like that )

Another good one is that your weapon is made by the lowest bidder.

Grenades havent changed from what I can see, but why on earth would you do that to somebody.... what if he panicked?...

NOBODY should play, alter, hammer, use a Grenade other then it was intended....

It ain't a game.
Sometimes that stuff gets real serious and you got to be real serious about it.
Life-death-real deal.

No PC playground considerations applicable.
