Default After Graduating from AIT Question

Good morning everyone, I have a couple questions regarding training after AIT. I have a non-prior Army guard soldier friend graduating at the beginning of March from Firefighting at Goodfellow AFB. He's been told by his active duty instructors that he needs to complete additional field training right after he graduates. One Sgt. told him it is only two weeks long and it would be at Goodfellow. Another Sgt. told him it would be three weeks at Ft. Leonardwood. Has anyone here heard of this training? Does it apply for reservists and Army National Guard? I guess the only reason I'm asking is these instructors sound like they don't even know what they are talking about. I told him he needs to just find out from the Guard Liason what he needs to complete, where, and when. i know when I left my training base I did entirely different outprocessing as a reservist than the Active Duty.

Thanks, I'd appreciate any feedback.

He'll really have to look at his orders putting him at the school. If he has no additional orders for either 2 weeks at Goodfellow or 3 weeks at Ft. Leonard Wood then there is no way he can get paid or fed or anything. He'd just be unauthorized to do anything.

If he gets orders or already has them in his original orders then he has to do it. It's for his advantage if he does get additional training.

Thank you, I appreciate the advice. His orders are whole new story. Somehow they were "dropped" last week and then extended through April 15, which is beyond any additional required training anyway. I'll let him know that he needs to look into his orders and try to speak to a unit liason.
