Default questions about OSUT

Hello there! Got a call from my boyfriend and he's still stuck in reception. But I have a few questions. He says he is doing OSUT at Fort Leonard Wood. Does that mean that I will not be able to see him between BCT and AIT? Is there also not a graduation for BCT? I am really confused and worried I won't be able to see him for 17 weeks. Somebody's gotta know something!

I'm not sure about BCT graduation at Ft. L.W. but when my son went through Infantry OSUT at Ft. Benning they had a day & a half off between BCT & the Infantry phase & then Monday AM it was business as usual. I don't know if they had an actual graduation ceremony. The big ceremonies occur on the last Thursday & Friday with Thurs. being "Turning Blue" day when the new Infantrymen receive their blue cord worn around the right shoulder & the Fri. is the actual graduation.

We didn't go down for the BCT graduation but we went down for the actual OSUT graduation.

You might want to check further into it but I'd almost bet he'll have some time off between the BCT & AIT phase in OSUT. You or a family member should receive a packet from his command listing all the dates & times of all the events & directions on how to get there.

He will have a family day before the MOS training starts. You or his family will get a letter explaining all of that. There won't be a big hoopla made over the completion of BCT since it all kind of runs together.
