Default Ait

What is AIT like? Is it like boot with no leave. And do you go straight to AIT after boot?

And this is my first post...

It really depends on what your MOS is. If you have signed for 11B or 21B or another MOS that is a One Station Unit Training (OSUT) then yes for the most part it is like an extended basic with many of the same rules, living quarters and DIs. If you are in an MOS like signal then the training is quite a bit longer and more involved and is more like a cross between basic and an actual duty station. You will have multiple Phases where more and more privileges are given to you.

Do you go back to the recruiter right after boot and then go to AIT after that?

Your Recruiter should have told you all about that by now, Cheedog.

If you're in Combat Arms & a few other MOSs you'll attend OSUT, One Station Unit Training. It's BCT & AIT run together like Michael said. You may have a portion of the weekend off between the BCT & AIT phase of OSUT. Then back to work on Monday - same place, same Drills, same recruits.

Once you're in the Army & shipped to BCT you won't have anything to do with your Recruiter. His job is finished. He may still offer advice to your folks or wife, whatever. you become the sole property of you Drill SGT.
