Default Stay with a battle buddy?

i have heard a rumor that 2 friends can join the army together and that they can stay together through basic training. that would ease the home sickness, having a friend that uve know for a while, go through basic with u. is this just a rumor or what.

This is true. But for it to work, you have to enlist as the same time, and choose an MOS that will put you at the same BCT center and that will make it so you can be stationed together.

even if its not true you will meet the guys there and will become friends..at the beginning you'll all be cool..in the middle you will want to probly kill all of the guys there and then by the end you'll be sad to see them all go! but no doubt about having a buddy from home there would make it ALOT easier on the home sickness. but thats just part of the training. cause when you get deployed you won't always have that friend there to be by your side...

When I went in the Navy a million years ago my cousin, our buddy & I went in under the buddy system. It worked so good that my cousin left a month before me & our buddy left a month after me. After boot camp we had all contracted for Submarine School so we thought maybe we'd all meet there & be in the same class. Nope. My cousin was a month ahead of me, our buddy a month behind.

I certainly hope the Army has it all figured out & that it actually works.

Come to think about it my brother-in-law joined the Army under the buddy plan. That didn't work either. I can see it in this case. He went MP & his buddy was a Transportation Specialist. I'm sure there was too much gap between MOSs to even have them in the same Basic Training post.

It's a good idea. If it works out for you just make sure that you two don't hang out together excluding everyone else. You'll meet some good friends that might parallel your own career. My son met a soldier in Infantry OSUT, went to Airborne School, RIP, & after being assigned in the same Ranger Company, went to Ranger School together. The buddy remains in the Army as a career man but my son & he still stay in touch & probably will for the rest of their lives.

I asked my recruiter this same question about battle buddies and he told me the Army doesn't do it anymore. So I don't really know.

My guess is if you & a buddy sign up on the same day for the same MOS & ship date there's a good chance you'll at least go together. Maybe a different BCT company or platoon, though.
