I pray none of our guys has to be rapidly deployed. I have wondered what is the consideration for who or what base goes to deployments first? Is it just automatic for new recruits? Is there some schedule somewhere of which bases will supply which units?

I got the message second hand but what my son said was when they assign them to a company? during their ait training, if that company was deploying they would cut their training short and send them with the company. His MOS is cbrn but he said if they didn't assign him to a chemical unit he'd be assigned to infantry? that's a tough one for me...I'll just take one day at a time, graduation first!
That's the way you have to take the Army, one day at a time. It's been a lot of hurry up and wait, which frustrates my son to no end. I've learned not to get to excited or stressed over anything until it actually happens.

My son deployed 2 months after all his training was completed. Had his batt. deployed sooner he would have completed his training 1st & then met up with them. He was already MOS trained but it was required he take Airborne School & Ranger Indoctrination. He would have been useless to his unit without it.

Let me know if anyone knows what platoon leader means. Is it a rank change?

Where is your nephew? My son graduates this week from Ft. Sill. They had family day and he was promoted to PV2. His dad and I got to give him the stripe and pin one on his hat. I am so so proud of him. He really is like a grown up man now and I am just in awe of him and the accomplishment he has made.

That's when a soldier gets any pin- rank, jump wings, etc., you fail to put the clasps on the back & slam them home with your fist. I received several badges that way & still have the scars!

bunker, doesn't know...He's picked up on my past discussions. Sorry, guy. You can't go for your blood wings at Bct?? You can't. Msg Glenn and his son knows this. You must earn your blood wings after Ait and only at AAS..Air Assualt School...This soldier wears them.... Class 13 07 Air Assault School at Fort (Fumble) Campbell, KY. It was a name given for Airborne before Air Assualt was born and it's term used now for Air Assualt and only by soldiers... We call it by our Army Lingo .. Assualt Wings=Blood Wings.....I mentioned it a few times...The rites of passage to Airborne.

Alot of guys had their wives and girlfriends pin their blood wings on..When it was my turn..I was asked if I had anyone..My reply...I couldn't afford to bring all 774 of my girlfriends to pin on my wings..Lol. I asked if one of my favorite instructors who wore Airborne Wings to do the honors. It was The 12 miler was the best....
