Default some advice?

hey im new on here... i am thinking of joining the military after college, and i would like to know how i should train myself. I am pretty sharp mentally, and i am the starting goalie for my highschool soccer team. i am 6'0" and 140 lbs. im kinda thin... any tips on training myself would be very appreciated, and i would like to know what to expect. ive started weight training, and ive been running too. i get horrible running cramps under my ribs, and any advice on that would be helpful too. i think it has something to do with the extra vertabrae in my back (go figure ). anyway, thanks for any help you give!!!

Hi Donthurtme.... Interesting Forum name, and welcome!!... Glad to see your getting your education well underway and enjoying your colleage eduaction.... Assuming your American and looking to join up, the option of going for Officer is open to you if thats your thing.... you have loads of options for enlisted aswell... a recruiter will have loads of stuff for ya, but think about what you wanna do in general terms (leader/follower, Specialist Tech/Infantry, etc, etc) and then get some details of your recruiter... write your questions down cos Recruiters are sales men for the Army and will lead you recruitment unless you assert your questions into the conversation.

On Training, your very light for you height, but dont worry, good fresh food square meals *3 a day and Physical training is advised. I would work my way upto 2 miles in 14 minutes, and be able to do 35 press ups in a minute and 35 sit ups in a minute.. these are rough entry level fitness requirements for under 25s in professional armies... Some weight training to build body strength (not body mass) is reccomended also..... join a Gym and get an instructor to help you out on that one....I am half inch under 6 foot and 198 lbs..... about 10 lbs over my optimum weight, but when I was training, I was 148lbs.... so your are not alone.... the training itself will fill you out, so dont be worrying about your weight being on the low side...

Others like Tacky and Nightflyer will have more specific advice for you as they are US Army. So without further adue, I wish you well and good luck in your choices...

Exo...

Glad you like my country, you can see Eircom Irish League games easily enough... the FA Cup is normal associated with English Soccer... is that what your thinking off??...

Yea, its semi professional in Ireland. Eircom Premier League is allot different to UK Premier league..... Gaelic Football is still the dominant sport in Ireland and more Irish support UK soccer teams then Irish ones....
