Default Greetings from TX

Hello!

As you can see, I'm a newbie here to the Army.com forum. I was told about the group by a friend, sounded interesting and so I thought I'd check it out.

I'm an Army wife of over 12 years. Married to a Soldier who has been in almost 20 years (wow that makes us sound old, lol). He is currently deployed to the great sandbox..again.

I'm an Army veteran myself, serving over 10 years. We have three handsome little Army brats who are 12, 10 and 7.

Anyway, that's the basics..we are calling Fort Hood, TX home...anxiously awaiting a change in that zip code, LOL

Welcome Armygirl!

Is your husband starting to think of retirement? I made it out after 27 years & I'll tell you that retirement check every month is great! Free money for the rest of my life. Now for Social Security & I'll be a rich man! When my wife starts collecting SS I'll be even richer. It's ridiculously easy. All you have to do is grow old!!

Tell your husband to take care of himself over there. I was over there for Desert Shield/Desert Storm. It's a virtual paradise!

We have talked about retirement, he did 2 years NG and then came active duty so he has just over 17 years towads retirement. When he gets back from this rotation we'll have less than 18 months before he hits 20. We are going to go at least 24 though, we just feel we need more time to transition. We both LOVE the Army, it suits us well and I get anxiety thinking about getting out, lol.

Yeah, "paradise', lol sandy beaches..well the sand part anyway, LOL

I was a 71L/42A - Admin...and did every aspect of it from being a clerk, to a mail handler, to protocol and whatever else is included. I loved my job, every single little aspect of it. I'd go back and do it all again.
