Default Graduation from bootcamp

I am about to enlist, not sure where my boot camp will be. Im going for infantry, air borne, so im guessing Fort. Benning GA. My question is how does the ARMY do thier graduation. Is there a ceremony? Will my ceremonie be where I go to basic at?

Im asking because there are some family members that I would like to be there for the proudest day of my life. Are family members going to have to fly to where basic is, or will I not get to see them untill I get back?

Hey Soldierboy, Welcome to our home away from home. Im pretty sure your bct training for both the infantry, and Airborne, is at FT Benning. The Graduation ceremony is held at the main field or field house of your bct training. You will get your orders after meps, and it will provide you your graduation date. All the unit's from Alpha to Foxtrot, will graduate at the same time.

It will be a grand day for all ....so tell your parents to go to the unit website for info about the cermony when the time comes....it's a great time for all. The day before is called Family day and it's a good time as well. You get to leave the Fort for some family time and later that day when you report back around 7:30pm. All the family's and their soldiers get together for each unit's awards from their D/S's afterwards there's a short film showing you and your fellow soldiers towing the line together during your training.

Also another reason why graduation Day, is cool. You made it .Lol. It will be the first time you will be seen in your Class-A uniforms and pictures will be taken that day. We had previous servicemen, and women, come to are graduation wearing their old colors and showing up to cheer us on. My Graduation started at 10.00 and concluded at 12.00. We had our's indoors because of the weather. It was the best.

Tacky, is our senior LT, If there's anything more to add he will..

Good luck

Hey Kmullins,

My graduation was at FT Jackson...Lol. On the 18th was family day in the gym because of the weather. The weather was very bad that day. We went back to my unit and a classroom and dad signed me out. There was a line of soldiers from all the unit's waiting in line to be signed out. I was almost next to last. Lol. We had a great day from 11:00am till 7:30pm shopping and having a great dinner. My Dad and my uncles where banging down beers like college frat party. Lol. Nice and relaxed. Lol.And very cool.

my husbands was outside, wish it was inside because it was a bit chilly. my brother went down with me and my kids. it was a nine hour drive with 3 kids ranging from 2-7. my brother has never raised his voice to my children, but about 7 hours into the drive he snapped. he started screaming and cursing. said a hole lot of ************. when he stopped my kids started laughing at him. everytime we talk about our trip, thats everyone's favorite story.

Some nice stories of graduation.... lol... I come from a big family and numbers were restricted or security reasons to 4. I had some *** kissing to do with my sisters after they had to stay at home... your day sounds much better, but thinking about, my grad day was at a tense time for my country, so I understand why... could be cool to be 15 yrs younger though, and do it again...

Sounds like when my uncle Donnie used to hang out with us.... At first he used scream...that got him nowhere. After awhile he got smart. Uncle D let the four of us do what we wanted...as long as it was in reason and in the back yard. Sad to say my mom fired him after about two weeks...and a keg party.Lol My mom and dad and the whole family loves him. He's a stand up guy.

I'll remember them days all my life. The best of times.

A side note..I had a college hockey game against a big time rival, last year. It was an away game form where my college is located. It was a fourteen hour drive in so much snow only the strong survive. Between the first and second periods and knowing the fans and supporters would not attend a game so far away against the elements....I heard . Hey Johnny boy # 74 I looked up and there was uncle donnie with a brew in one hand and his new girlfriend in the other.Lol
Yup, family first always. I guess one day I'll be like that full of pride and respect for the ones we love. My dad always says... that's all that matters in this world is your family. I know that's right. Oh, and my uncle donnie's girlfriend is now is wife. Lol
