More type 45s will be produced...its just one step in modernzing the Navy.. dont forget the new Subs we are also putting into service... the new carriers were a must really...but they ae costing big bucks...nearly 4 billion once all the systems are in place..and that money has got to come from somewhere

its just a matter of how much... where and when.
nothing much more to it. they are good but expensive machines.
the deployment counts a lot.

I've watched this unfold before and can predict further cuts on an already diminished Frigate / Destroyer fleet!
Yeah theres already been two many cutbacks on the surface fleet for me(numbers wise)....and as defence spending isnt going to increase...the money has to come from somewhere eles...something losses out....cuts maybe made in other branches are the armed forces....and it wouldnt surprise me one bit....if it was the font line solider that losses out....its been that way for years...where the money is most needed it rarley arrives

the carriers are needed no doubt about it....and all branches benifit in the long run

key to power projection.....but there is a part of me that thinks....navy top brass want some new shiny ships...so when theres military exercises...or we vist commonwelath countries...they will say look at the new fantasic British ships

nah be honestly...the carriers arnt cheap...but they are needed

We currently have 8 destroyers and we're going to replace them with 6 with NO plans to build more and you think thats ok? WE need double that to protect these monsters. How many do the US use to defend theres .....Come on chaps info!research it!!!............Oh and remember that German Sub (diesel powered) that penetrated the US carrier screen .....Good job it was an exercise eh

The amount of money poured into that project was crazy....at first the US ordered over 700 F-22s...then it was cut to 270....and today only 119 or in active service.....either its to costly(no surprise)....or its not as good as they make out for its price tag

$137.5m per unit
F-35.......$83m
Eurofighter......$122.5m
