Interesting Article Gladiator... I have to say Im a fan of Petreous, and the article brings up one of the main reasons why I think hes the man for the job.. hes "the most politically aware of the Generals"... Military prowess of a reasonable nature is possessed by all the Generals holding stars on their shoulder, but bring stability to an area ravagedby Gueralla warefare takes Politically Savvy especially in the Middle east.. Playing the field is common practice in the Middle east and to use the local saying "a deal is only good from sunset to sunrise" is so appropriate... leaving the polically astute being one step ahead and a man like Petraous who has made mistakes, learning from them and making sure balance is there in his approach next time... I think he is the man for the job, but his real battles will be in local politics... he has able officers with his general direction to handle the conventional operations...

Oh, one last thing, if you saw the desperate plee from Binladen to the locals to support Al Quada in Iraq, it would seem that the good Generals tactics are indeed working...
