Default Some questions about the army reserve

Can the Army Reserve deploy me if I am going to college full time?

Not only that, how will my signing bonus work? Say I get a $20,000 bonus I heard they give you half after basic training and the other half over a period of time.

I would also like to know how long basic training is, and AIT if your planning on becoming a dental specialist

*Take note this is for the Army Reserve

I think Armygirl answered most of your questions on your other post.

To reiterate - Yes you can be deployed if you're in college. You'll be considered an important member of your unit & they'll need everyone to go so there are no gaps in manpower. There are always exceptions, though.

Check with a Recruiter to find out any possible tuition assistance or tuition debt forgiveness.

Which MOS are you intersted in? That can make the difference in how much you get. I heard bonuses are starting to dry up somewhat.

PM on the way.

you can almost count on being deployed if your going for more than two years and have a good chance then too, im going for two years and we've had 3 guys pulled out so far for deployement that are reserves, one got his notice half way thru last semster and was suppose to leave two weeks before semster finals, somehow or another he got a them to allow him to finish the two weeks and then go over. the other two got their notices at the start of this semster and ended up dropping all their classes. I know for a fact two of them joined less than a year before school to help pay for it all.

also if reserves is same as active, you get half your bonus after AIT and then the rest is split up over the remaining years of your enlistment.

I found this on goarmy.com. The key word is "many" not "all" You should check with your recruiter to see if your unit offers this program.

ARMY RESERVE EDUCATION CAREER STABILIZATION (ECS) PROGRAM

"Many Army Reserve units now offer the innovative ECS program, which lets you finish college without interruption. ECS allows deferment from mobilization and deployment giving you an uninterrupted path to your college degree. Now you can pursue your goal of completing college with the peace of mind that you won't be deployed. You will still be able to take advantage of the Army Reserve's valuable training and benefits."

Here's the link for more information...

Default Ecs

I dont know if you guy's have researched this extinsively or not but the ECS program only gaurentee's that you will not be deployed for 2 years. If you are not done in two years then the Army will deploy you whether you are through or not.
