Roughly Corresponding -

US Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines = correspond to their UK counterparts
The 82nd Airborne Division = The British Parachute Regiment
US Navy SEALs = Special Boat Squadron
US Army Special Forces = Special Air Service
US Army Rangers = UK Special Forces Support Group (VERY loose correlation)
SFODA 1-1D ("Delta Force") = Special Reconnaissance Regiment

There are a number of distinct units on both sides of the pond that have no direct correspondent -

148 Commando Forward Observation Battery Royal Artillery
18 (UKSF) SignalRegiment

Certain US Army Task Force designated units
Officially nonexistent units ("The Army of Northern Virginia")
CIA Direct Action Teams which 'borrow' US military personnel

Hope that helps get us back on track, and away from the nastiness that was going on!

My son never bitched about the SAS. His Ranger Batt worked with them & each thought the other was crazier than anyone else. The got along together, went on missions together & supported each other. He made some good friends & still stays in touch with them.

Roger that jrj, they are first rate soldiers for sure... I remember a mate of mine was on a barrack guard and came off it furious... I asked him why, and he told me a reservist was on with him (visiting reserve unit), and he would not stop fiddling with his loaded weapon. He told him to stop playing with his weapon serveral times and eventually grabbed him and told him to knock it off or he would beat him into butter... It loosely illustrates that in the military game, theres no greater asset then well training soldiers beside you when the ***** hits the fan!!..
