Thats the mark of a true Special Forces Professional in my opinion, and I just hope todays Cadre of SAS carry on such a proud and professional approach...

A Breed unto themselves those blokes, Talk about throwing the rule book away and sticking it up the Krauts, Paddy, Cooper and clan were real pioneers in behind the lines operations.

Couldnt agree more, its great to see that the saying "better late then ever" is still held in regard. I agree with Sterling, he had politics against him, but then so did the SAS... When they were disbanded under protest by Sterling in 45, he asked why of a General in the High Command, and was told "there is no room for a bunch of gansters in the British Army"... now thats harsh unjustified prejudice towards the SAS without whom, the UK would have being well and truely in the s**t on more then one occassion.

Col. Mayne thoroughly deserves the VC for his actions, and its great to see it one step away. The Godfathers of unconventional warefare were "unique" characters, and Mayne was no different.... Its great to see that history is placing him where he should be... one of the British Army's unsung heros, who can finally be recognised.. not that he would give a s""t about PR, but its good to see anyway...
