I've used a number of good plate carriers. Get one with PALS webbing so you can change your load out based on mission type like this: http://www.optactical.com/wasatch.html

TAG ( tactical assault gear) has some great pouches for mags, frags or whatever. They are high quality and look good.

Get a plate carrier (they are a lot lighter than IOTV or IBA) since the army's soft armour is bogus anyway. Look for one with PALS webbing, so you can change you load out- mission dependent- as needed. Eagle makes some good ones, as does Tactical assault gear (TAG).
I have personally used tag rigs and pouches- they are top notch.

Dragon Skin? Medic says this is the best body armor we can buy for him. Is that true, or can you folks recommend an upgrade? I'd really appreciate any input, as this is all new to us.

dragonskin vest is very contriversial piece of kit in the US military because it didn't
pass the tests. as far as i know it is the best weight-to-defence ratio vest against multitude of threats when its in mint condition. I don't know nothing about its durability, nor
the resistance against different weather elements.

the vest might be quite good, but as it is flexible, the wearer might still be
rendered totally inoperable if shot, due the kinetic energy. there might be some key variation in this aspect against vest with full tactical ceramic plates for example.

the vests ability to stop the bullet is obvious but im not that sure about the
equal distribution of the kinetic energy.. even if they have some damn nice
commercials. if you take a hit to the torso area and your down after the first
one, it can be worse than having no vest at all in certain situations.

Thank you, Torspo. I had no idea that the vest didn't pass the tests, and I doubt that Medic knows it either. He's got a stamped, self-addressed order form in his kit, but I'll warn him to check out other options first. Buying him armor that doesn't pass muster kind of defeats the purpose.
