I'm about 95% positive that they DO serve coffee at BCT...my soldier did BCT and AIT together at Fort Knox back in August, and I vaguely remember him telling me that yes they served it, but it was terrible (sorry!). I can double check with him next time I talk with him though. Good luck with BCT! What's your MOS?

When I went to BCT/AIT the drills banned any caffeine. We were not allowed to drink any soda whatsoever but they did allow a cup of coffee every now and then. Mostly when we were in the field and the messhall would send coffee and hot choclate because it was about 13 below at Ft. Knox Kentucky the winter of 1983. I would bet that in our kinder gentler Army of today you will probably be allowed to drink coffe along with your latte's, espresso's, and cappucino's along with the morning paper and a pipe!!

LOL!
I don't need any luxury coffee, I'd be more than happy with some mississippi mud/grit coffee.

They have coffee at the dining facilities but like a previous poster states, some drill sergeant will limit what a Soldier can eat or drink to help them be successful.

Really makes me wonder what my Drill Sergeant is gonna be like. Honestly if I did have to go with out coffee I would survive of course, but that first week would be hell! Since I've been consistently drinking 1+ cups of coffee everyday since I was 17 (11 years ago) I end up dealing with head aches that last all day if I don't have a cup within 4 hours of waking up. I should probably quit, but I don't want to. It keeps me happy on rainy Seattle days.
...I hope my future Drill Sergeant doesn't come across this forum...

I wouldn't worry about it. Coffee is plentiful if nothing else. You may not get it when you first get up, but there will be coffee in the DAFS (mess hall). As an added perk, there will be Folgers in your MRE's also. WoooHooo!

Ok...so when I said I was 95% sure that there was coffee....I was 100% WRONG. I talked to my soldier, and he said that several DS's didn't allow the guys to have coffee b/c it dehydrates you. So, good luck weening yourself off of it in time! And sorry for the false sense of hope!
I can ask my guy what the guys drank instead for the caffeine! I'll let you know when I can!
