Default Are there any positions in the military for disabled people?

I'm disabled (autism, nerve pain disorder) and have had interest in being in the military.

I've been told no by all recruiters.

As JFK once said "Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country"

And I want to do something for America.

I have the patriotc bug.

Everyone I've talked to that's in the military loves it and say that if it wasnt for the military they wouldn't have had the opportunity to travel the world.

One area I think I would be good at is coming up with strategy for the military.

What is the Severity of your autism? Most likely no. But you can always become a military contractor if you are good with math and science. Things of that sort. Don't Despere, you may not be able to join, but you can advance our troops foreknowledge by creating new technology. You would be helping our country alot and you can bring in big bucks.

Actually I'm going back to school to get a mathematics degree if the military won't accept me.
It's one of the areas that I am natural with.

And science is one thing that truely interests me.

(The reason i'm going is because I have a few good ideas for inventions)

I don't know how the American system works, but the general perception in the Australian military is that no matter what trade skills or position in the Army you apply for, it must be forseen that you may be required to face the enemy in combat. It doesn't matter if you're an Army Plumber or a Dentist in the Navy, all hypothetical situations must be considered.

But what Sniper said is true, you can do a lot for you're country with your natual abilities in maths and science.

Weapons designers and the sort are generally employed in private firms, who have no such physical requirements for employment. I say good luck mate, and may it all work out for you.
