family @ft jackson for BCT??

Hello everyone :) my husband is at Ft Jackson for BCT b company 3 13th. Anyone have some one there??? well I visited the web site and i see that there is a photo gallary. I cant tell if there are just no photos or if there is something wrong with my computer. I would love to see pictures of his training. Has anyone else heard about the people there acting up and causing trouble? I would love to be in touch with someone going through the same thing! This is the first time we've ever been apart and Im so proud of him, but i miss him too  well please keep in touch, nd im glad i found this web site!!!!

LiHer82 03-07-2009 08:02 PM

I'm having the same problem too. I can't view the pics. I even emailed them, but they haven't responded. My husband is in the 2/60th.

4jeepchick4 03-07-2009 08:08 PM

are you trying to look at the pictures on the individual websites? those don't work, the only photo gallery that works is the one on the BCT page on the left with all the buttons.
my boyfriend is in the 2/60th also :) when does the 3/13th graduate?

Txmom42 03-08-2009 09:21 AM

Funny thing about those photo galleries. It's really difficult to tell one soldier from another. They are all in uniforms with their hats on in most of them. When my son went through there were only 2 or 3 I could definitely say were him. One was a shot of the back of his head, I would recognize those ears anywhere, it also didn't hurt that his name was on his hat! A couple of others his hands were what I recognized. It was pretty cool to see what they were doing. When his friends went to his graduations (I was tied up with school) they brought me back a DVD with all the pics from the website and some video that was taken during their training.

LiHer82 03-08-2009 02:24 PM

That must have been so nice to see your son during training even if it was just the back of his head :D. Unfortunately I haven't been able to recognize my husband in any of the photos they have posted up. I wish they would put up more and fix the problem with each company's individual photos. Oh well, I'll just buy DVD. Was it nice? Did it have lots of photos?

armywife1109 03-09-2009 10:31 AM

bct photos

Is there any way u can send me the web site? It would be so nice to see pics!!!! ;)

http://www.jackson.army.mil/units/BCT.htm

If this is the link you mean, this is where i have looked before with no pictures. they are just grey blocks... :(

armywife1109 03-09-2009 11:06 AM

ok i did actually see the photos to the left of the screen. im not sure though when those were takn and what company or unit the yare in. but i def did not see my hub in any of the picts. oh well i suppose i will just have be patient! its hard sometimes though. i recognized though in all of the pictures things my husband wrote in his letters, things he had learned and been through.

3-13th is supposed to graduate on the 17th of April. my husband says that there are alot of people acting up and preventing them from getting further in theor training. the last letter i got stated that he was still in red phase and supposed to be in white. so i hope the graduation date doesnt move back any further. :o

Welcome to the forum! There is a few of us with husbands/sons in the 2/60th. My husband is in Company F. What about yours? I'm sorry you haven't been able to hear from your husband. That can be pretty tough. I didn't hear from mine this weekend, but that's because they are at Victory Forge this week, but just think...in 10 days we get to see them!! :)

Im sorry you did not her from your husband, I didnt hear from mine either. He lost his phone privaleges this past week because he asked me to send him spandex shorts, black and all the store had were blue. Since they were blue instead of black he was written up. I felt horrible!!!!!! but in way it is punishing to the both of us lol... i wont ever do that again. i cant wait to hear from him this weekend. he has told me about so many instances about people that are acting up and causing trouble. sometimes i feel though that the drill sgts want them to think things are worse than usual and that everything that they are going through is something that was planned out any way. but who knows, i just hope all is well with our men and wish them luck!!:o

Husband at Fort Jackson

Yes my husband just left for Fort Jackson on March 3rd. He is in the D company. I have heard from him a few times, but it's really hard. Has anyone received any information about the insurance. His recruiter told me it would be 5 days, but i still have not heard anything.

4jeepchick4 03-10-2009 03:27 PM

i guess being at fort jackson just involves being in trouble pretty much all the time! lol as long as they get everything done and pass all the required items they'll graduate on time. for the 2-60th it's only about a week til family day! when you fly out for family day and graduation start checking the weather about a week before and keep checking it so you know what to pack! don't wanna be in shorts in freezing cold weather lol

It took about 2-3 weeks to recieve the form to take to the base and get Id. But on another post someone said you can go to Tricare physician with husband SSN and should be good to go.

My husband is E -Company as well. he sent me the results of the PT, which was administered Thursday, 5th, If I read it correct. My husband said overall, kind of low scores, but like only 5 did not pass. And from other forum info. it seems as though they let some of them continue to retest if it is close.
It seems as if your husband would have notified you if he did not pass, so that you could arrange accordingly. :D

my husband wrote the results in a letter on thursday night when he was up for 1:30am- 3:30 duty. Letter was post marked on Friday, 6th. You could call the number on the invitation and ask someone at the company headquaters??? You have to make plans and all.
Good luck.

My fiancee is currently at Ft. Jackson in the 1-13th Inf Regt. This is the first time apart from her but I do suppose others are right that we get trained right along with them in the process...Anyone else have someone currently going through BCT that will graduate in May?

My hub graduates April 17th then goes to Ft Rucker for AIT. We definatly do get trained right along with them! I've learned so much since he's been gone, and we've definatly grown from this. my hub is the 3-13th b company.

Family Day & Graduation March 19 &20

My son graduates Friday. Does anyone know much about what goes on at Family Day Thursday? I understand they cannot leave the base at Ft. Jackson. After the ceramony what will we do there? Tour the base I assume. Are there places to eat lunch on base? I understand there's a buffet dinner somewhere? Any wisdom? Anyone been through this before?
Thanks.

bekamcclung 03-16-2009 07:47 PM

the way I see it. from the info sent to me, ( and my 2 daughters are coming to see their daddy too), there is putt putt, video arcade, billards, bowling, museum, PX, a couple of dining places.
I went to Ft. Jackson website and in the left column, it was a link to activities or such, and then clicked on MWR, under the onbase housings, they have a link to and activities Map. I printed one off for myself.
Hope this helps. I am sure that a buffet dinner is just that, but it with the rest of the Platoon's families and everyone is "on base".

congrats on your son.

We'll be driving alll the way to Alabama so I hope that him and I can leave as soon as we can. does any one know about that?? Also am i aloud to visit him when he's in AIT? He'll only be there for 9 or 10 weeks.

Wyndham C 03-17-2009 06:30 PM

She's in the same group =)...I think they call themselves the Undertakers? 1-13th Inf. Regt. D. Co. 4th Platoon

Yes, the Undertakers...... Have you gotten any letters/calls from her? I've only gotten one letter since he's been gone. He said he' doing well.....the drill sargeants aren't so bad....but, said there's a lot of jack*sses who don't listen, so they're getting smoked alot.

Do you know anything about graduation? The website says its May 29th, but I thought it would be the 15th, which would be after the 9 wks.

Where are you from, and are you going to her graduation? I'm in Pennsylvania....

Wyndham C 03-18-2009 07:54 PM

I have received six letters so far...They pretty much relay the same thing, there's some knuckleheads mucking about and consequently they've been smoked...Other than that, it appears things are well...I haven't had a phone call since she was in reception so, alas...Perhaps this Sunday?

Graduation is May 15th, I will know for sure tomorrow but I will be there.

I am in Allentown, PA.

No way...... I'm in Nazareth. What's your fiance's MOS and where will she do AIT? My son is 63B. He'll be doing AIT at Ft Jackson also. Whats her name? My son is PVT Cahill. Have you looked at the pics on the Ft Jackson website? There's a few females pics from week 1, maybe she's on there. I've only gotten 1 letter, but my son was never the letter writing type, but I've already sent him 3 letters, some pics, and just today sent out a package with some basic stuff..... chapsticks, vitamin c drops, cough drops, envelopes...... i'm just hoping he doesnt have to do a million push-ups for that. And i hope he gets to keep all of it.

Sorry if I'm rambling....but its great to find someone with a loved one in the same company.....let alone we're practically neighbors.....

Wyndham C 03-20-2009 05:59 AM

She's a Medic, unsure of the MOS number itself...She will be heading off to AIT in Texas when all is done...I viewed the website but none of the photos have her in them, but I keep watching for one. They apparently have done their first 3K march in battle gear as well as started with throwing live hand grenades. They should be starting White Phase I believe next week. Graduation, according to her DS at the Armory, is May 28th...Which is NOT what they explained priour to going or even when she first got down there. But alas...

Well, from another soldiers mom I've been talking to, whose son is in same company, his DS is saying May 15th. I don't think we'll know for sure until we receive the graduation packets. I've heard they send them out anywhere from 3 wks. after BCT starts to the week before graduation. Hopefully we get ours sooner.

Did your fiance go to Ft. Indiantown Gap before BCT? My son was there, and I went to his graduation from that. Since then I got a few text messages while they were on the bus down to Ft. Jackson, and one letter. I'm sure hoping for a phone call on Sunday.

Wyndham C 03-20-2009 02:23 PM

She was at Ft. Indiantown Gap, I was there too for graduation. I am hoping the 15th but you are right, we won't know till we get those bloody packets. In the mean time, I am hoping as well for a phone call this weekend.

I got my husbands graduation packet in the mail today. the original letter i got a few weeks ago says that the graduation packet is mailed during the sixth week. im getting really excited now, it feels like its getting closer now that im starting to make plans to go. I called a number however to make a hotel reservation on post, but the woman told me that i can only make reservations 10 days in advance. So i guess I will make one for off post and 10 days before see if i can get one in on post instead. oh well, we'll see i guess, will the soldier be able to go to our hotel :D just wondering...

Hi Joslyn

Since all the platoons do a lot of things together, maybe they know each other. Have you gotten letters/calls from him yet? I've only gotten one letter from my son so far. Hoping for a call tomorrow. Nice to meet you.

My hubby is also in 1/13 Inf Reg 4th PLT. He graduates May 15th. How are you doing?

Wyndham C 03-22-2009 05:47 AM

It is difficult but about as best as can be expected =)...And you?...I am hoping graduation is the 15th...The original DS from the Armory said it would be the 28th after making a call the other day and that's just way too long (and doesn't make sense calendar wise). Also hoping for a call today, particularly since they had no personal time last weekend due to people not helping out with buffing the floors.

ccrazy13 03-22-2009 06:39 AM

We finally got a few from D-Co. 1/13......I'm going to start a new thread for us since this one is getting kinda long.
