China has the largest armed army in the world. According to 2003 estimates, the manpower available for military service was 375,520,255 people, of which 206 million were fit for active duty. The People's Liberation Army makes up the majority, the figure includes the People's Armed Police Force (for internal security). Eight Standing Army Divisions 20 Air Force and Navy Air Wings with 2,000 Combat Aircraft 232 Strategic Bombers 19 Strategic Ballistic Missile Submarines with 3,114 Nuclear Warheads on 232 Missles 500 ICBMs with 1,950 Warheads Four Aircraft Carriers and 121 Surface Combat Ships and Submarines plus all the Support Bases, Shipuards, and Logistical assets needed to sustain its Naval Force Chinas's Population 1,298,847,624 (July 2004 est.)

The Chinese Army's mission is:

 
  • To provide protection for China by securing its airspace, land, and sea interest and jurisdictions,

  • The People's Armed Police Force provides internal security for the people of China.

The requirements to enlist in the Chinese Army are:
